FSO Lanos & FSO Matiz

Post by Polish_Kris »

I'm a new member here,

For whoever is Polish, the Lanos and Matiz can be bought in Poland brand new under the FSO badge.

Check it out:

http://www.fso-sa.com.pl

Available in 1.4 8v, and 1.6 16v

4 door sedan and 5 dorr hatch... no 3 door hatch :(

I was in Poland in the summer and I saw FSO-built Lanos' everywhere, including as police cars, security cars and taxi cabs.

Well Erfinder, the FSO stands for Fabryka Samochodow Osobowych, which can be losely translated as "The Car Factory", building vehicles under the 'FSO' make. The factory itself was located in Warsaw, Poland. FSO made some some fanky models over the years....

Daewoo bought the polish FSO back in the 90-ties. The plant was re-equipped for the assembly of Daewoo models, and built them for the polish, mostly, market. The factory fall into major financial problems after the Daewoo bankrupcy, and lack of trust in the Korean maker. In 2003 they sold only a handful of cars, so I have read somewhere.

As of Sept 30 2004, and I was in Poland when I saw the news, Daewoo-FSO dropped the name and brought it back to FSO. FSO has licence to build the Matiz and Lanos models from GM-DAT until 2006. Therefore, now they're called LanosFSO and MatizFSO.
