Well...... I got a calibra.... for the down right illegal price of $3417 Canadian ( which is like $3K USD )

On top of that there is shipping from Japan to my home town, customs fees and fees for the guys who made this happen.

All said and done it will be about $6500 CDN to my doorstep.

It has to sit in Japan until the last week of August since it was manufactured in September of 1994 so it can't come into the country until it is exactly 15 years of age

Car info:

1994 Opel Calibra 2.0L turbo AWD
60,548 km
Body kit, color matched trim
No rust on body or undercarriage
Small crack on fiberglass lip on front bumper

Here is what she looks like.....

Well.... the bank screwed me with all the charges and the Japanese Yen went up while the Candian dollar went down.... so it cost me $4000 for the Calibra instead of just over $3400.

Car is at the port warehouse awaiting the day it can jump on a ship and come to Canada ( last week of August )

Looks like there might be a few upgrades to the engine....hard to say at this point what has been done to the car.

I got a few more pictures.........

The yellow carbon fiber dash kit will be the first to go.... and it will definitly have upgrades.... but over all I'm really happy with the appearance.

i said ewww when i saw the yellow dash, glad your ditching it.

(ill prolly get flammed for saying this but) the body style kinda looks looks like a late 90's chevy cavalier, the calibra is nicer, i like the head lights and tail lights more, the ople body is a bit cleaner than the chev. im soooooooo jealous!

Hehe... I'm glad I found this Cali (yes, it was me that showed it to Chris). I almost feel guilty now hehe. Anyways, did you find out if it needs any parts? I would have the importer do a complete mechanical inspection on the car while still in Japan. I am in Europe for next two weeks so picking up parts would not be a problem ;-)

I sent you a text... I assume your back from sailing with your dad.

They did a visual inspection before auction and went through the car after they received it from the auction, they mentioned a small amount of oil somewhere below in the engine bay but didn't know where it was coming from.

Overall they thought it was in excellent condition.

They know absolutely nothing about Opels.... I don't think they could do a real mechanical inspection.

The UK guys still haven't got back to me.... do you think you could pick up eight axle seals for the F28 ?

They should be pretty cheap... probably $10-$15 I'd guess based upon the price quoted in the UK.

Hmmmm.... I wonder.... perhaps I should get you to pick up a set of plug wires... what do you think ?

I think I mentioned that you can forget about the plug wires for the 1.5L..... oddly enough it looks like Kurt might buy my red lanos if I throw in one of my 2.0L engines.

Anything else you think is necessary ?

I'm not sure as to the compatibility of timing belt components.... I wonder if they are different from the newer engines.

I say just wait for the car itself and inspect it yourself, THEN if ur not satisfy with ur plugs, then buy new ones :smt001

so, what your not going to be "part" daewoo if u sell ur lanos?
