they are called parents... lol
i'll make a note of that. lol.
only problem is, most of the time i work nights, so they're not too fond of picking me up from work between the hours of 3 and 7 am.

ah nobbers! i hate receiving the wrong size parts... the reducers i ordered for the intercooler, which were supposed to be closer to 70mm-50mm turned out to be more like 75mm-65mm... so now gota send them back and hopefully get the right ones 2nd time round. www.AutoSiliconeHoses.com that is, if anyones wondering.

FSE rrfpr:

need to wait for next week and the week after's paycheck before i can buy the final few bits.
other than injectors, the majority of what i still need is pipes and hoses, ie: fuel hoses, oil hoses, boost piping, exhaust piping.

here's what i've got so far...

Image

still waiting for a few things to be delivered.

havnt bought boost pipes yet, because i havnt made a final decision on where the intercooler will go - so i'll order all of that once the intercooler is in place.

ordered 2 1/2" stainless steel pipe for the custom downpipe. any extra left over from this might end up being used to make a side-exit exhaust coming out just in front of the left-back wheel.

ive added up the price of evrything so far and it comes to £250 +- £5 (delivery included). the prices of items on their own is probly closer to £200 - which aint half bad for a turbo conversion.

also, to attach the turbo to the manifold I need to re-drill one hole on the manifold flange and bore/grind another to make it a direct fit - so no need for an adapter. obviously i'll have to drill the gasket in the same way and hope for the best and maybe even use some gungum to seal it (works wonders for worn gaskets when no one in the area have a certain exhaust gasket in stock).

thats it for now... need to invest in some more tools at some point aswell to get the job done easier. oh, and i need some oil and an oil filter aswell, but i can get that easy.

edit: almost forgot, ive got 4 check valves (3 + 1 for good luck) from an aquarium/aquatics/fishtank/whatever shop for the MAP sensor aswell as a spare MAP sensor in case mine dies. the MAP sensor is off a 1.6 16v, but they look the same and have the same connection so i'm sure it'll work in case mine dies. still want to get an extra IAT sensor aswell.

ran into a spot of trouble yesterday... the intercooler is a bit of a bitch to fit behind the bumper because both the connecting holes are one the one side of it instead of being on the ends. so the only i can mount it at the front is to cut away a whole great big section of the bumper to the point where the intercooler would basically make up part of the bumper - if that makes sense.

unless i can modify that rx7 one to fit properly i'm thinking about investing in another one that would fit easier without cutting the bumper in half.

what do you mean? mounting the turbo to the manifold? making a downpipe?

if its either of those i can answer them now.

to mount the turbo to the manifold will be a direct fit once ive re-drilled a hole or two on the manifold, seeing as both have triangle shaped flanges.

for the downpipe, the turbo unit has an elbow/downpipe adapter already on it, so i'm gonna use part of the original front pipe, so as i can use the flexi bit that goes with it, and then use 2 1/2" diameter stainless steel to fill in the gaps.

once i start doing it i'll take pictures along the way.

the stainless steel pipe i ordered was only supposed to be a 3/4 metre length... somehow they got the order wrong and sent me 3.4 metres!!!!!! all for £13 posted. so ive got loads spare for a side exit exhaust, or even a dual side exit! (one each side)

it's more like 4.5 times more... cos its a step from 750mm to 3400mm, not from 340mm.
everything in the description was even in metric, stating its a 750mm piece and 62mm diameter.

oh well, their loss... full stainless 2.5" exhaust for me.

well... after the trouble with the toyo rx7 intercooler not fitting, ive now bought a intercooler from a ford focus tdci.

gonna test fit that nxt week and get an idea for where the turbo is gonna sit so i can start buying boost pipes n bends etc.

well... the work will be starting soon, once i've received the last few things. but for now, i thought i'd give an update as to how much everything has cost me so far, so here's my complete shopping list so far (all prices in GBP, btw):

Code: Select all

turbo parts:
45.00	kkk k14 turbocharger
22.00	ford focus intercooler
24.99	oil filter adapter plate
43.94	fse malpassi rrfpr
 5.70	blowoff valve (forge replica)
17.74	autogauge boost gauge, 52mm
10.99	silicon t-piece 2" diam, 1" connection
 3.40	oil feed hose connecter
 3.95	oil feed banjo bolt
 7.51	oil drain hose connecter
 2.24	3mm silicon hose, 1 metre length
 6.75	3x 3mm silicon t-piece
 4.00	8mm fuel line t piece
 4.20	8mm-4mm silicon reducer
 5.13	8mm fuel hose, 2 metre length
-----
total: 207.53

extra parts:
 0.99	4x checkvalves
7.48	champion colder spark plugs x4
8.99	fibreglass heatwrap, 5 metre length
13.00	steel pipe 2.5" diam, 3/4 metre length (3.4m)
35.89	polyzhaust 2" exhaust rear silencer
-----
total: 66.35

job parts:
 6.48	50mm jubilee clips x10
 4.85	mahle oil filter
13.00	aluminium sump sealant
 4.45	10x 15mm hose clips
-----
total: 28.78

tools:
 4.47	hss drill bits
 7.53	hss hole cutter
 4.53	1/2" npt thread tap
 5.20	50x 2.5mm arc welding rods
-----
total: 21.73

unused parts:
12.56	19mm silicon hose, 1 metre length
 6.98	2x 75mm-55mm rubber reducer
14.03	rubber hose 2" diam, 1 metre length
-----
total: 33.57

-----
TOTAL: 357.96
i still need to get boost piping etc, which will probly be another £100 or so. I think i'm gonna get quite close to my initial budget idea of £500 all-in, altho that budget was set just for the turbo parts, not including tools, unused bits or extra/optional bits - so quite a success, financially.
