Re: auto to manual conversion
same!!! LOL it was somewhere near 7k. lol my tach is a $20 (USD) one. :/buddha102 wrote:my went to 6700rpm w/ the power button on before it shifted to higher gear
i was doing like 5.6k with old air filter and no pwr, switch to short intake, got to 6k, then i found out the pwr button cables were like sheared apart >.< re wired and pulled somwhere at 6.7k i didnt really notice the amt or anything, i just took off and held the gas pedal XD i have to adjust the cable and idle shit to perfection. >.< and reset my ECU.
and @MM: i want to go over 4k at N or P for when i pull up to people, or along side.. its just pathetic to have 6k in D then 4k in N. like pull up to an integra, and N then rev all i hear is a slight hmm then drop then hmm.. no roar no VROOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. just weakness. hahaha. thats why.

Re: auto to manual conversion
Hey all, I have actually converted two lanos to a manual transmission, and will be converting mines in the next couple of months. I can speak from experience what it is you need exactly.
Transmission
flywheel
Mounts (all are different)
axles (both are different)
Shifter/linkage assembly
Brake Master reservior
Clutch Master cylinder
Slave cylinder
Slave cylinder hose + tubing
ECM
brake pedal
clutch pedal
heater hose (outlet)
clutch assembly
plus all the bolts which pertain to these items take a bag and tag it and place them inside. I would purchase NEW flywheel bolts as they are torque to yield and should not be reused. You do not need the wiring harness. All you need to do is break down the neutral safety switch and wire up the starter feed, and your reverse lights. You also need to rewire the VSS signal to the MT's speed-o drive gear so your speedo will work and to avoid a MIL situation. Your auto's VSS uses two wires, the mt is a three wire connector, the third wire is also found in the neutral safety switch. It is blue/blk iirc. I would recommend you purchase a new flywheel (about 120 at daewoous) or you can send the one you get to be resurfaced. The ECM does also need to be replaced but is a direct bolt in (everything is). Also the center console does not need to be replaced, as the shifter/linkage assembly simply bolts and clips right on to the auto console. The shifter is a complete assembly and removes/installs complete with ball, leather boot, lever and linkage. If your picky about looks purchase a new one from daewoous (about 80 bucks or so) and comes complete. Axles are probably the most expensive components, you can get some china ones for about 70 bucks ea brand new no core required from your local autoparts store though. I have installed factory clutches in both setups. Whisper quiet, and silky smooth. Dunno abut higher performance setups however. I will be converting my woo in the next couple of months once I get the spare time to do it all, I will take pics and post them...
overall your looking at maybe a 500-700 dollar project done in a weekend, and depending on where you purchase parts, and brand. Expect a good clutch to set you back a couple hundred, and the axles too if you buy them oem. I always install a new clutch master and slave as these do the grunt of the work and are constantly being used, besides a used clutch master is probably leaking anyways. I get all my parts from a local U pick salvage yard here in Miami, FL. with patience you can find a manual woo and take it all. I have gotten all parts for both setups there for under 200 dollars, (all used) plus 180 for new clutch and 50 bucks to resurface the flywheel.

Re: auto to manual conversion
I have a 99 lanos SOHC. It was auto but i converted to manual..No trouble.
There is a bracket that is situated in the middle just in front of the central mount. The gear box came out of a 94 racer
