ideling problem

Post by sheepdizildawg »

hey guys, been a while since i was on last. been really busy. got a question though. when going up hill, i downshift and run the rpms a little high, so i dont loose momentum. well the other day i did it and when i hit the top of the hill i let off the gas and the car is idling at 2000 rpm. so i un hooked the battery and let it set for a few. i then put it back together, and it ran fine. now it keeps doing this. i have had to reset the ecu like 15 times in the last week or so, could this be a bad ecu or do you guys know something else?

i did that today after reading someones post. but they say turn on the ac. dont have ac. and i dont have a manual for the car. so let me try this
turn key on for 5 seconds
off for 10
on for 5 off for 10
start car, let it warm up, then turn it off?

if you don't A/C (as in no A/C came on your car as standard) then i recon the part concerning the A/C is irrelevant in your case

There is a small rubber tube (3-4 inches) that join from engine cover to throttle body. Check that tube for crack or leaks. If it leaks, lost of vacuum will cause high rpm even when u never step on gas on idle.

i actually replaced that tube a while back. you talking about the bigger one? or the smaller one? replaced the really small one when i rebuilt my engine. it idles fine until i stay at a high rpm for a little bit when like racing. pedal to the floor, then stays like that till i reset the ecu.

I meant the small one. Check its secure and no leak. The bigger one is going into the air intake before the throttle body. Its from top of engine. Something to do with PCV I think.
