The thing I find puzzling about doing an idle reset on a 1999 Lanos SE, is after the turning on and off the ignition a couple of times for 5 secs, it then says to turn on your A/C ........ its this part I find puzzling? do you also turn on the fan with the A/C switch?...or do you just turn on the A/C switch without the fan?... My understanding of the A/C is just pushing the A/C switch on hasnt engaged the A/C untill the fan control is turned on.
PS. This is from Lanos Manual
Turn the ignition ON for 5 seconds.
Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
Turn the ignition ON for 5 seconds.
Start the engine in park/neutral.
Allow the engine to run until the engine coolant is above 185° F (85°C ).
Turn the A/C ON for 10 seconds, if equipped.
Turn the A/C OFF for 10 seconds, if equipped.
Turn the A/C ON for 10 seconds, if equipped.
Turn the A/C OFF for 10 seconds, if equipped.
Turn the ignition OFF. The idle learn procedure is complete.

Re: Idle reset puzzle
That's correct. A/C can only be ON (green light) if ventilation is ON too.My understanding of the A/C is just pushing the A/C switch on hasnt engaged the A/C untill the fan control is turned on.
There is also a additional step between first A/C OFF and second A/C ON for auto transmission: brake pedal applied set transaxle in drive (D).
