Re: rodd1s' Lanos [updates on first post]
thought i'd get a few pictures of my exhaust mid pipe when i took it off this weekend to finish the welding (it was still blowing a little)
notice what appears to be a de-cat pipe.

oem is like 1.75. 2 inch is the biggest you should go with no major mods, you wont have enough back pressure and you will have no low end torque
Re: rodd1s' Lanos [updates on first post]
LOL OMG is that what it is. here i thought 2.25 was smaller then idunno what. And i'd hope no one would go that big on a stock engine lol starting off would be fun lol. but backpressure .... "back pressure" is really a misnomer...daewoomofo wrote:oem is like 1.75. 2 inch is the biggest you should go with no major mods, you wont have enough back pressure and you will have no low end torque

the outside dia is 51mmRSZT4 wrote:LOL your probably close its that or 2"daewoomofo wrote:i may be incorrect on those measurments, i would say dont quote me on them, but you already did, lol

the standard exhaust diam is 2" (51mm). the de-cat pipe is 2.25" diam... and as for where to get it from... i have no idea, it was already on the car when i got it.
for those wondering about backpressure... its still strong once warmed up.

Re: rodd1s' Lanos [updates on first post]
remember a while back when i had the problem with my air filter being obliterated and partially sucked in by the engine... well when i took off the intake pipes etc i noticed a lot of oil buildup... so a possible addition im thinking of doing over the next weekend or so is either install an oil catch tank (cheap on ebay), or make a custom one... or just put a breather filter on the end of the pipe between the rocker cover and intake pipe.
are there any advantages of having a catch tank over just installing the breather filter?

breather filter will make a mess of you engine bay. use the catch can, cheap, easy, clean and they can look cool too
Re: rodd1s' Lanos [updates on first post]
this weekend ive got to wash the car for a show/cruise anyway, so im gona give the throttle body and intake tubing a good clean up aswell and i'll try to get a few pics of what i come up with for the oil breather/catch tank.
not gonna pay £30 or £40 for a catch tank off ebay when i could make a similarly nice looking one myself. the scrap metal from 3 old exhaust silencer might come in handy afterall, aswell as the meshy type baffles inside.
