Just finished Timing belt 1.6 Lanos

Post by tgs2101_765 »

Hey guys, I just swapped the Timing belt, water pump, auto tensoner, and idler pully on my timing system. I've done the timing on a Honda with a manual tensioner (which I perfer personally) and a balance shaft belt. I personally am a little paranoid about the auto tensioner. I followed all of the procedures on the How to last night.

The only difference I seem to have with most of the forum's other accesory changing is I did everything with the engine in the car. Can anyone give me some re-assurance that my auto tensioner isn't going to cause a major catasrophy? Heh

Why do you expect major catastrophy? You followed the right procedure and you bought reliable items and a Gates belt, isn't it?
Double check tensioner's pointer position and that the belt stays centered.
Re-check that in some hundred miles.

as long as there wasnt a belt breakage (or if there was the head was rebiult) and the timing marks are lined up correctly you should have no problem
