Hi all,
Its been awhile since I've been on the forum. This isn't the rite place for this thread and i apologize for this. Ok I am in Ohio lookin' for all the goodies to make my lanos the fastest and hottest lookin' one in the state.
#1 I saw the thread on the swap of the Cadillac Catera engine but the link isn't working for me, If anyone has the link for the caddy swap that would be great. I have access to the engine, wiring harness, transmission and all the other ins and outs. Not sure if the daewoo 5 speed tranny will bolt up to the caddy trans. any ideas?
#2 the Coil-over system from the mk2 how do I get in the united states? And i guess the rear drum to disc conversion would be helpful too.
#3 Tasteful body kit, i am looking for something that is refined, I thought about buying the "sports" models front and rear aprons/bumpers, rear hatch spoiler, and side skirts but I would really like to find something just a little more aggressive looking, but again nothing over the top.
I see all these great vehicles all over the web and notice that not many of them come from the United States. Its a bummer that Daewoo had to close down their United States operations after the September 2001. This leaves the few owners with a great platform to have fun with and put some Japanese cars to shame, in a hard spot. I love my woo just as you all love yours please help this po'boy out and make the best of what I lol. thanks all I'll see ya soon!

Catera swap is not necissarily going to make you the fastest lanos.... the heaviest... but not the fastest.... I still recommend the 2.0L turbo over the V6 swap.
Coilovers.... well.... there are issues to over come.
First only the fronts are adjustable... as nobody makes a rear adjustables for some reason... so typically you just lower the rears 40mm to 60mm and play with the height of the fronts.
Secondly the lanos and Astra have their spindels/hubs attached to the coilovers.... which means most companies want your old struts back ( or they will charge you big time )
FK is the easiest choice.... they have multiple distributors in the USA.... they make two versions for the Astra MK2 / Opel Kadette E and pricing is around $1000 to $1500
Convincing one of the FK distributors to bring them in for you shouldn't be too hard.... most FK dist guys are heavy into the Volkswagen stuff (which is the main thing FK makes )
I was going to become an FK distributor quite a while back but they have a really weird program that requires you to pay for their advertizing.... if you sell lots of parts then they waive the fees but if you selling less than 10K per year they charge you a ridiculous amount of money.... so I said screw it as I will never sell 10K per year worth of Opel parts into North America.
Body kits are all over the place..... best thing to do is search through images and rides ( car domain for example ) and check around on EBAY until you find one you like

thanks for the reply.
i have a guy who loves to tear down v6's and say that we could get some serious gains out of it. I like the idea of staying natural aspirated, the power to weight ration on my hatch would be sick. he is thinking some where in the range of.32 to .34 ponies per pound. not to mention a v6 tucked under the hood will look good as well.
i'll check out ebay for the body kits.
and the coil overs hmmmmm. i'll look around for the fronts like you suggested. I was looking though some old magazines and one article i came acrassed had a set of koni coil overs on a 3dr lanos, now trying to get them to reproduce those would be sweet.
if you have any links from your reply that could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Need help with donor cars
After taking a look at the price to tear down and have the caddy v6 built for peak performance and looking at what everyone is doing with the 2.0litre engines. I think I will go with the C20 platform. Ideally i would love to get my hands on an c20xe, but alais it is very difficult to get my hands on one. So with that being said I need some help with finding a donor car. I would like to keep a 5spd maunal box of course. i have an '01 lanos hydaulic clutch on my d16/f16 tranny. I would like to find a d20/f20 and a c20 engine. I have access to many yards either pull the parts myself or have the yard do it. Chris says the turbo 2.0 would be best-----what would be the best donor cars in the United States to find the C20... engine and d/f 20 transmission?
that being asked i know that i would want to pull the wiring harness, ecu, and all tranny and engine mounts. I have an electronic speedometer in my gauge cluster and would like to keep it that way. should i pull the trannsmission of a nube to keep my electronic speedo?
thanks all this forum has helped me in other cases and now that i have a second vehicle i wanna get my woo moving towards the track.
