Parking Brake Light.... hmmmmm

Post by AcingTeam »

Hey guys,
I have a small concern for the parking brake light that comes on sometimes when I'm accelerating... It doesn't matter how I accelerate (slow or hard) it does it... pretty rarily but still.
I had the same problem with my Ford, it used to blink, and then eventually it just stayed on.
I will check my brake fluid tomorrow (could that be the reason)?

What could be the reason for that (it only comes on when I accelerate, never comes on when I brake)???

Thanks!! :)

My old Hyundai Excel did the same thing when the brake fluid was low.

With the light coming on every other week & needing to top up the fluid, I looked around the car & found a leaking rear brake cyllinder.

Just fill up the fluid and see what happens.

Low brake fluid can be a sign that your brake pads are warn down and the car is due for new brakes.

Check for warn brake pads, and if that is not the problem, check for leaks.

if your brake fluid is fine, check the Parking Brake switch. It may be loosing contact.

Ok, my brake fluid is just over the min bar... that's why it blinks. I'll add some more and if it goes away quickly, then I'll have to get new brakes...
