Do Daewoos have resonators?

Post by buddha102 »

I've heard that if you cut the resonator, it will give u some more horsepower?

is that true?

yes and no...cause it probably isn't gonna be very much...a good high flow cat, cutting the resonator out and a straight through muffler might get you 6 or 7 horsepower in reality.

tried it before and it does makes the engine more responsive... but i "removed" the resonator rather than "cutting" it

I cut mine off and replaced it with a glass pack. when the car ran, it made the tone note of the exhaust a lot better. felt a little better response with the engine.

its not all that hard to do yourself. if you have some car ramps and maybe a jack, and the right tools its pretty easy. If you dont feel comfortable about doing that, then let the shop handle it, thats not that bad of a price, make sure your laws say its ok. i know its illegal here. haha

well, in that case u have to take the centre part of the exhaust off the car then get an angle grinder to the silencer box, cut it at each end including the heat shields and replace it with a straight steel pipe as i did. wish i'd taken pictures of when i did it, but was having way too much fun with the grinder and welder to even think about that lol.
