Lanos, white smoke!

Post by Edman »

2000 lanos 4-door, white smoke seems like water! But the oil doesn't show any milk shake!

What does this mean???

I rebuilt the head with new valves and cylinder head 1.5 years ago.

Have you checked to see if the valve cover gasket is leaking...mine leaked and filled the spark plug holes with oil which then drained into the cylinders causing white smoke.

I have a 2000 1.6 sx, and my car is smoking like crazy! especially when i pull away.
i have noticed that there is oil in my spark plug holes. do i just need to replace the valve cover gasket?
the other thing is, how will i know if it is not the gasket?

Wouldnt be the valve cover gasket. Could be a few things. Could be valve stem oil seals, or piston rings. How's your oil pressure?

it could be the gaskets that go around the spark plugs. so yea a new valve cover gasket would do the trick

If there's oil in the spark plug holes then you need a valve cover gasket...I don't know of any other way for oil to get in the holes.

Problems

Post by Edman »

It's definitely water going out my exhaust! The reserve is dry! Blown head gasket or cracked head? Should I just replace the head gasket again and cross my fingers?

I had a p0240 code, before. I just ignored it. Now it has p420 and a code for miss fire on cylinder 3.

Or should I add sealer stuff in the water? What do you guys think? I can't buy another car for another 4-5 months. Thank god I have a motorcycle..

+1 the sealer crap just ends up clogging up the smaller passages for coolant in the block and head. Try for a head gasket and hope that's it.
