How to decrease gaz usage in Leganza?
Hello,
it is my first Leganza SE 2001.
126000 miles, bought from NY-k first owner for 3000$.
Interior is perfect, just need to clean (or change) carpet.
a week ago put 20 $ (5,2 gallons) of regular gaz - drive in city 55 miles too much..like V6 SUV.
Dear members I need yours help to fix it?
Pl give an ideas where to look? or from where to start?
Thanx,
Benq

All Daewoo's are naturally thirsty in city driving...
in highway conditions, not many cars can beat them for economy though.
2001 Manual Leganza has a fuel consumption of 10.5 litres per 100km travelled

I cant be bothered conerting that to MPG because imperial measurements confuse me completely

HAHAHAHA DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!
So you're getting like 12.5 MPG?
Is it throwing any engine codes (i.e. the CEL is on/flashing)?
It would be best to check all the obvious things like air filter, fuel filter, exhaust blockages, spark plugs and wires, change the oil and filter, test the O2 meter...
Other than that, you would have to take it and get it dyno tuned to check if any mixtures are off drastically.
Good luck and I'm sure someone else will have more knowledge on the subject and be able to help you more than I did.

things to try are give the car a full tune up. change the spark plugs, the spark plug wires, air filter, fuel filter, oil change. make sure your tires are properly inflated. this might sound funny to some but make sure the parking brake is fully disengueged. the leggy is suposed to get some where around 22 miles to the gallon in city. fuel useage is also drasticly effected by driving habbets. drive easy, no need to redline it all the time. one more thing, is you dont know how old the timing belt is, i sugguest that you get a timing belt, tensioner, idler, and water pump put on there. if not some time in the near future your gonna be saying that daewoo's are bad cars, which they arnt.
hey benzino what do you mean that all woos are thirsty in the city? i get 27 mpg in the city, i wouldnt call that thirsty, hell even whe ni drove like a total ass i still got 22 mpg (still good in my book)

its also hard to tell about fuel economy when you only put $20 in the tank,i say reset the drip odometer, top it off (all the way, squeeze in all you can) drive around, jsut doing egular commuting, in a few days. go top it off again (same way, squeze it in there), record the distance driven. then take the amount of miles (or kilometers) and divide it bu the amount of gas you got. that will tell you how your fuel economy is. good luck keep us posted!
haha I must drive like an ass cos I get 22 MPG but thats like the thirstiest it gets.hey benzino what do you mean that all woos are thirsty in the city? i get 27 mpg in the city, i wouldnt call that thirsty, hell even whe ni drove like a total ass i still got 22 mpg (still good in my book)
The best i've got it must've been about 39 MPG but that was just cruising on the highway sitting on 55 mph
I just changed spark plugs to Bosh w 2 contacts, air filter, oil and put 5 gallons of super gaz(93-95). will see.daewoomofo wrote:things to try are give the car a full tune up. change the spark plugs, the spark plug wires, air filter, fuel filter, oil change. make sure your tires are properly inflated. this might sound funny to some but make sure the parking brake is fully disengueged. the leggy is suposed to get some where around 22 miles to the gallon in city. fuel useage is also drasticly effected by driving habbets. drive easy, no need to redline it all the time. one more thing, is you dont know how old the timing belt is, i sugguest that you get a timing belt, tensioner, idler, and water pump put on there. if not some time in the near future your gonna be saying that daewoo's are bad cars, which they arnt.
Also I want to see mechanic, some noise coming from engine.. mostly at the morning when I`m stating first.
Do any one know, how much cost is to change timing belt kit? and engine parts like rings?
Thanx
With a newly rebuilt engine (10.000km), my 1997 Leganza, C20 SED, 146 HP, manual, in urban cycle takes at most 15 liters/100km. I use to drive it like a rally car, I often take it to +6000RPM. If I drive it a little bit more friendly, the fuel consumption drops to 12-13 liters/ 100km. On highway/motorway the fuel consumption is 7-8 liters/100km.
