Nubaroo - time for some upgrades!!!
Hi there guys.
My Turbo is at my tuner - we are doing a "thick shaft" conversion, as well as upgrading the T4 / T - 57 compressor wheel to a - T61 one which is much bigger and will flow a lot better than the T57 one I will post pics as soon as the turbo is assembled. I am also upgrading my intercooler for better cooling AND FLOW
Old cooler
busy fitting new cooler
New cooler alsmost done
I have also managed to get my hands on a Opel Superboss Limited Slip Diff Now I can get the power onto the tar for a change
Will post pics as soon as I get it

Superboss Differencial should definitly help with traction ... T61 compressor sounds very serious.... must be planning for more boost by the sounds of it
Just did some plotting of the pressure vs flow and I hope you don't make boost really quickly because your just on the good side of the surge line most of the way.
I didn't know the T61 had such a straight surge line like that... interesting... and good at the same time.
Seems like you should be able to tap into the top of the 76% sweet spot if you push the car up around 7000 to 7500 RPM.
At 6500 RPM your 25PSI and 30PSI points are just to the left of the "sweet spot" which isn't a bad place to be.... especially if your planning to bring the redline up a bit.
Hopefully your turbine wheel and turbine A/R are reasonably large to avoid quick spool.... I'd guess that if you hit your target boost by 4500 RPM that T61 will be very happy.
You said you had a T3/T4 before..... did you jump up to a T4 turbine or are you still running the T3 turbine?
What trim and A/R do you have on the turbine side?

My tuner says that on the exhaust side I am running a T3/Dash-3 wheel(not specified in trim) in a 0.63 housing???? I am keeping this same exhaust side setup. The cars rev limiter is set as 7000rpm,and I don`t really want to push it over that as the Daewoo head is still stock What I did notice with the old T3/T4 setup was that I had a fair amount of lag, round 3000 - 3500rpm making 0.3-0.4bar boost, but round 4000 - 4500 rpm the setup managed full boost(depending on the setting - 0.9bar for street use amd 1.5bar for race days), so hopefully you can give me a better insight about the expected performance of the new setup??? I am only planning to run round 1.5 to 1.6 bar boost on the car for now, as I am still running an F18 gearbox Will post pics soon

Looking good Nubaroo, you're never finished tweaking that monster of yours are ya? Looks like you're doing all the right tweaks though
Apart from that, don't mean to butt in.. but... Anyone any insight about reading those graphs? I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking at. Any info on reading them would be appreciated.

Hey Piro, I would suggest reading the "turbo tech" stuff on Garrett's website (the turbo manufacturer, not the forum member lol)Pir0 wrote:Looking good Nubaroo, you're never finished tweaking that monster of yours are ya? Looks like you're doing all the right tweaks though

Can one EVER be done when building a turbo car Just when you think this is it, you see something to make the system work better But yes, once the turbo/cooler/LSD upgrade has been done I AM DONE! .....Then maybe bigger 850cc injectors, suspension mods, and some styling LOLPir0 wrote:Looking good Nubaroo, you're never finished tweaking that monster of yours are ya? Just some input needed here - once the bigger cooler is fitted, half of it will be hidden behind my front bumper. What do you guys think....should I have the bumper redone to show the complete bigger cooler, or leave it as is?????

I think you should re-do the bumper if you can afford it... would also help with better charge air cooling if the whole intercooler gets air instead of only half.Nubaroo wrote:Just some input needed here - once the bigger cooler is fitted, half of it will be hidden behind my front bumper. Good idea Pir0 - if I cannot get the bumper redone next week by the body stylists I will definitally looh at this option - thanksPir0 wrote:You could put a sortof diffuser style thing on the front bumper on the upper part of the gap. It means you can leave the bumper standard length and shape cause you wont really see the bumper curve up behind.

Got a quote from a "kit car" building shop today to modify the front bumper - R2000, then they modify the bumper the way I want it. BUT....because it is made of fiberglass AND plastic it is VERY heavy and they guarantee me that it WILL crack BUT.....the R2000 includes for them to make a mold of the finished bumper AND MAKE ME A NEW COMPLETE lightweight fiberglass front bumper. Then also the mold is mine - to make more Daewoo Nubira 1 front bumpers for anyone interrested????
Here is a pic of the rough cut so far
I Just dont know where to put a numberplate now - any suggestions????
