Personally, I'd leave out the back speakers and work on the imaging of a good front sound stage.

Take the money you were planning to spend on front & rear speakers, and put that total amount on better front componant speakers for the front.

Then have a subwoofer in the back and you'll be able to create a great sounding system.
The holes where the 6x9s were removed is a perfect place to let the bass travel from the trunk into the cabin.


But... that is just my personal preferance.
Some people love rear speakers, but I notice the time delay.
Some higher end HUs (head units), such as some Alpines and I think Pioneer Premiers models have time delay correction, which is very nice, although you are not going to see that on a HU below around $300.

hmmmmm.....i want to shy away from subs because i like having a boot for stuff to roll round in and i just want a clean sounding sterio, doesnt have to be overly loud but a clean sound is important, for up front i like the idea of 4 way splits but im not sure about the tweaters. I should talk to my dads cousin because a little while ago he sold his mirage and he had spent something rediculous on sterio, in the regeon of $40,000. Some of his stuff was free from sponsors but im not sure if he has anything left. Funnily enough he now has a turbo 200sx that doesn't even have a radio in it

I'm putting a sub in my Leganza, but I am going to build an adapter ring so that a 10" will fire up through the hole where a 6x9 used to be.

That leaves the boot with plenty of room for everything to roll around, and it fills in the missing low end freequencies that smaller speakers just don't produce.

paper or plastic?? From what i've read paper cones give a better sound, but plastic are easier to manufacture. Plastic cones can also be coloured easier so more ricers will buy them....
