thinking about redesigning my trunk.....

Post by sheepdizildawg »

Well I have all the plans drawn out what I want to do, going to make the trunk fiberglass, put 2 12" subs in, one on both sides, and a computer screen in the middle, going to be really cool, I have a quick question about some stuff though, anyone any good at fiberglass? what kind would be best? like thickness wise.

if your gonna glass a speaker box, you better make it thick as hell. 2 12s will put more stress on the box than you think.

yeah I know, going to reinforce it with wood and what not, fiberglass is more or less going to give it a better look, might just go for 10s

well I was thinking of making a box, and form it to somewhat what I want, and then use fleece to do everything else, I want it all one piece, it should turn out pretty good, some guy by my house is selling 10 yard pieces of fiberglass cloth for $20. it is 51 inches wide so i told him I wanted 20 yards, so it should be enough I hope.

You need to create a wood box and then put the fiberglass over the box and then use bondo filler or something similar and paint. The bondo filler is to make it harder and can paint over it to give a brillant look without scrashes!!

that is pretty tight looking, At the end of the summer I will be turning 18 and I will be probably parking the car for a while so I can get my motorcycle, and while it is parked, I will be starting to do all the cosmetic stuff, redo my paint, fill all dents, redo interior, all that good stuff

However the extra 100kg isnt really worth it :D

I'd honestly rather listen to the engine most of the time. Unless I'm sitting still, cause the 8v's tick an awful lot at idle.

Butttttt, really nice design with the boot m8. Can't wait to see it finished. Should look pretty sweet.
