Bursting with power: the Kalos Sprint and Lacetti Sprint
In some countries, GM Daewoo is already marketing the Kalos Sport - a specially modified
model with a very dynamic appearance. Just how much performance can actually be
packed into this compact five-door vehicle will be demonstrated at the Geneva Motor
Show in the form of the Kalos Sprint, which has been developed by the Swiss tuning
firm, Delta Motor.
The Kalos Sprint is powered by the familiar 1.4 16V unit that normally generates
69 kW/94 hp, but by virtue of the Rotrex compressor and an intercooler, the modified engine
now produces an impressive 96 kW/131 hp at 5,850 rpm. Equally impressive is the
maximum torque of 168 Nm at 4,120 rpm (standard engine: 130 Nm at 3,400 rpm). To
slow it down again, the Kalos Sprint is equipped at the front with internally ventilated
brake discs having a diameter of 256 mm and a thickness of 24 mm. The vehicle is homologated.
On its stand in Hall 2, Delta Motor (which is based in Eich near Lucerne) will show another
sporty prototype, the Lacetti DMK Sprint. It has front-wheel drive and is based on
the Lacetti 1.8 16V. It is additionally equipped with ? among other things ? tinted windows,
sports seats and racing accessories such a fire extinguisher and 4-point belts. Instead
of the normal 90 kW/122 hp, the engine, thanks to its mechanically driven Rotrex
compressor and intercooler, has been boosted to generate 121 kW/165 hp at 6,000 rpm.
