New York, New York - Suzuki unveiled the Forenza Wagon at the New York auto show. The Korean-built Forenza is known as the Chevrolet Optra (Optra sedan, Optra5 hatchback) in Canada, but there are no plans for an Optra station wagon in Canada.
Suzuki's foray into the wagon category targets those buyers wanting to combine the drivability of sedans with five-door functionality, cargo capacity and affordability. The Forenza Wagon, designed by the Italian design firm Pininfarina, will go on sale in the U.S. in late 2004 as a 2005 model with an MSRP ranging between $13,000 to $16,000.
The Forenza Wagon will compete with the Ford Focus Wagon, Subaru Impreza Wagon, Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback and VW Jetta Wagon.
