Not gonna keep the woo :(

Post by MMamdouh »

the way things are going i think i won't be keeping the woo

i am getting ready to get married and have my own family so my dad is gonna move out and take the car - it is his car in the first place - and i will have to find myself a new ride.

frankly i am happy with the woo... i know almost every bolt in it and we go along very well but soon it will be time to say bye bye. :(

i am going to get myself a car for sure as i got used to having a ride but i have to consider my options and i am more inclined to get an "expensive" brand new car and pay "installments" rather than getting a "cheap" used car and pay a big chunk of money at once.

i can get another woo as their are still making them here... i already got ton of experiance with it and won't have any issues knowing the car, i won't feel that i got a "new" car though as it is the same car i was driving for the past 7 years. PRICE: 64k

i can get an Aveo... the thing is pretty and engine wise it is a 1.5 SOHC like my lanos so my experiance wit hthe GM family is not wasted and it is not that popular in the streets here so i am going to turn a few heads with it ;) ... the thing is its 16% more expensive than the lanos. :? PRICE:74k
Image

also i though about an OPEL corsa with a 1.6 SOHC... got a test drive in a friend's car and the thing is damn fast and it is a GM family as well but again it is even more expensive than the Aveo and it is starting to be popular as well. PRICE: 85k
Image

moving on to the cheap side of things i can go with a 1.3 Hyundai Accent... the thing is cheap and practical and so far it has proven itself in the market but it is to damn popular and lots of taxis arroung here are accents. PRICE: 53k
Image

moving to the risky part of things i can get a Proton GEN2... the thing is the most beautiful car of the mentioned pack and it got a 1.6 engine so i recon it is going to be fast but... what about reliability?? i beated the hell out of the woo and she is still solid, no one knows how solid is the GEN2 and how much it would cost to fix it let alone the availablity of spare parts issues. the car got very good sides and very bad sides... adding to the bad sides: it costs the same as a reliable OPEL corsa with the same size engine. PRICE: 85k

i am still considering my options and financial status to decide which one to get but in the end i am sad that me and the woo got ot go in separate ways. :(

Well... you pretty much summed up an inclination to stray away from what I would tell you you should do...

I think you should get a used car for less money (even if you take a loan out for it) but even better if you pay for it in full.

Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll enjoy your new car, whenever you figure out which one to get.

The Proton Gen2 and the Hyundai Accent (Excel) are quite okay cars. A friend has just racked up 340000kms on their Excel with very minimal problems!

The Gen2 hasnt taken off here, you dont find many on the road. I guess it's because they're competing against things like Corolla, Mazda3, Ford Focus here...

If i was buying another car it'd be another used Lanos or maybe a new Kalos/Barina 8) Yes im love struck

That Gen2 thing looks pretty spiffy, I like the lines on it... just wish i knew more about them... Sad to see you not stick w/ a woo... but things happen and people have to move on.... BUTTTTTTT i'm happy that you're staying on the forum, it's awesome to see that kind of dedication to the community (I appreciate it, from both you and Nick) You rock... I hope to see you continue to give advice and such... and remember this is a car forum, and all combustion engines have some similarities, and anything you may need help with can possibly be answered here as well as in addition to other forums... especially when a question comes from such a well respected member, you probably wouldn't be laughed at for asking here, no matter what you choose...

I'm off my soap box now.

I'm sorry to see that you have to give up the woo, but glad to see your life is going to expand and you'll head in your own direction. I hope you choose one of the ones in the GM Family of cars but if you don't i wont hold anything against you buddy. I'm excited to hear your choice though!!

thank you for the support guys... i really appreciate it.

if i am going to get a used car i am more inclined to a woo as well... a used car has its problems and it is a good thing to have a ton of knowledge about your used car to fix it. i am very tempted by royal red lanos hatches... not sure if i can afford to pay that some at once though.

anyways as i said the separation is not imminent so iam still with the woo so far and even when the separation ocure i will be loyal to the community as ever.

Even if you can't afford to buy a used woo outright... taking a loan out on a used Woo will save you thousands in the long run compared to buying a new car.

Is it an arranged marriage?

Pardon my ignorance on such things, but have you met her yet?
