Remember all my discussions and polls on which car to get next? Well... I think I've decided to keep my Lanos (I love how it looks), it just needs performance. So, instead of buying a new car, I think I'll slap a turbo on my current motor. Also will go to a body shop and have them improve my exterior (I have a few small scratches, a few big ones, some minor things)... so I'm thinking for like $4,000 this all should be accomplished (body + turbo + bigger piping exhaust + labor) maybe bigger injectors and other things.
At about 7psi should probably make about 180bhp... should be sweet!!
Just felt like sharing this with everybody!

YAY!!!!!! common sense must be starting to be contagious. first OZ now you. just waiting on aaron to change his mind too. hell man for $4k you might as well take erfinders offer and get it done by him and anything else left over use exterior wise. what happened with the whole police deal with the guy that scratched up the car? you still gonna be able to get money out of it?

save a tree, eat a beaver.
Apparently the cop came to home depot (where I work) to request a copy of the video of the guys shopping. That was like 2 days ago... so I'm pretty sure that the case is still in progress... it's going very slowly.lanos2001 wrote:YAY!!!!!! common sense must be starting to be contagious. first OZ now you. just waiting on aaron to change his mind too. hell man for $4k you might as well take erfinders offer and get it done by him and anything else left over use exterior wise. what happened with the whole police deal with the guy that scratched up the car? you still gonna be able to get money out of it?

Chris' deal is a very good one but it has 2 minuses:
- I can't find a 5spd Nubira anywhere around me (especially a HB that I'd rather have)
- I have to go to Canada for a few days (which isn't all that bad... I'll get to see Chris!)
So, Chris' deal is not out of the question (unless he terminates it)... but I just love my Lanos. Now, that I'm thinking about it... he could swap a 2.0 8V turbo into my Lanos (without me having to buy a Nubira) and the rest I could spend on the exterior... good idea! lol I don't know what I'll do yet... I have a few months to decide.

Just keep in mind that it might take a couple of months to find a nice C20GET.... and it would probably take another month or so to get it rebuilt (mostly wait time at the machine shop that does the high performance engine work)AcingTeam wrote: Now, that I'm thinking about it... he could swap a 2.0 8V turbo into my Lanos (without me having to buy a Nubira) and the rest I could spend on the exterior... good idea! lol I don't know what I'll do yet... So we are talking about an install sometime in May if you committed to the idea right now.
All I'm saying is.....keep it in mind.
I just had a thought.... hmmm... another posible scenario is to buy a newer 2.0L forneza engine like the one I got..... pull out the rods, pistons and cylinder head.
Install the C20GET rods, forged pistons, 8V turbo head and all the accessories from the 8V.
Then I would have an additional 16V head to fool around with.... and you would have a practicly brand new 2.0L 8V engine.
I allready have a C20GET disassembled.... it would take a matter of a week or two to do the swap onto a Forenza engine.
Hmmm..... the more I think about it.... the better I like the idea.... it's the best of both worlds.
You get a block with next to no wear on it that doesn't require machining... all the gaskets would be practicly new.
The reason for taking off the 16V head and installing the 8V is that it makes the install super easy.... since the mount is in the correct placement.
Plus there are no issues with the power steering or A/C.... the C20GET has them tucked away under the back side of the engine.
The more I think about it... the easier it would be.... I bet the cost of the Forenza engine would be less than the cost of the machining of the bore + new oversized pistons + possible crank work and thicker con rod bearings.... all the gaskets/seals.... the list goes on.
My Forenza engine cost me less than $300 and it only had 9000miles on it So yes.... I stole it
Basicly the wrecking companies are selling the Forenza engines cheap...... since almost nobody needs an engine yet.... most people haven't come close to the 60,000 mile powertrain warranty.

Yes Chris, I like the 2nd idea better. Get a Forenza engine, swap the C20GET accessories into it... cheaper, faster, more reliable. There would also have to be one of the engine mounts fabricated to fit a Lanos, correct?
Either that, or just slapping a turbo on my current motor. Is there any forged pistons/rods available for a 1.6l? I also heard that the Leganza's injectors fit, is that true?
Thanks!!
