Ebay Issue

Post by daewooluvr »

Ok, I sold an exhaust manifold and motor mount on ebay a few weeks back. The buyer then complained that the O2 sensor that I was nice enough to include with it was broken. In the auction I never said it included the O2 sensor. I stated it was just the exhaust manifold.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 8020294906

I explained to him that the O2 sensor in the Manifold shouldn't be used because it came from an engine with 35K miles on it and they're recommended to be replaced every 30K miles. I then showed him where to get a new O2 sensor for roughly $30.

This is his response:
Do you, or do you not have the shipping insurance that your ad says would be provided? I purchased your exhaust manifold & O2 sensor as a set with both parts included and undamaged. When I received the parts, the box was torn apart with gaping holes throughout it. I'm not about to go out spending more money on a O2 sensor when the USPS damaged the parts I needed. I will be expecting and waiting for the verification of the shipping insurance to replace my damaged O2 sensor (and yes, it is $140). Thanks, James

In a previous message:
I received my products today (on Jan. 5th, 2006). Problem is when I received my parts, the exhaust manifold oxygen sensor was almost broken off the manifold itself. So I need the insurance information so I can file a claim for the damages the USPS did to my parts (The O2 sensor alone is over $140). E-mail me back asap, as I need to do this immediately. Thanks. James
My reply to the first complaint:
The O2 sensor can be had for around $25. I replaced mine on my car already. Let me find you the link. www.partsamerica.com search for Part Number: OS103 or on www.ebay.com Item number: 8019889824
Hope that helps.
Also I would advise not to use the O2 sensor that was in the manifold even if it were in tact as the vehicle it came from had over 30K miles and they're supposed to be replaced every 30K miles.

I shipped it with insurance and delivery confirmation however lost the receipts for them :(. Cost me over $30 to ship this package.

I wish there was a way to find them through the post office.

Any suggestions/recommendations? I'm really trying to avoid getting negative feedback.

well if you don't want negative feedback and you can't find the insurance papers then just buy the O2 sensor for him and send it to him. i'm not sure how much you got for everything but if its the feedback thats the concern you might have to bite the bullet on this one.

He only paid $10.50 for the manifold. The O2 sensor would cost me $30+shipping. No where in the auction does it state that it was a Manifold & O2 sensor. Am I wrong here?

yeah true. if he puts a negative feedback can you dispute it with ebay saying the claims are wrong? or at least have a neutral feedback.

if he lists negative feedback and you dispute it ebay will mutually remove it. it will still show up, but it will come across as being in your favor

What a bastard. Contact ebay and tell them of the situation. Say that the auction was explicitly for the Manifold and NOT the sensor and that the buyer didn't contact you to buy the sensor specifically. They will probabally not allow him to post negative feedback in your store.

BTW, if he has the shipping label still attached to the box, I'm pretty sure all you need is the number and USPS can pull up all the insurance info you need. Better yet, if you bought shipping through Paypal, all the information is logged through it and can be accessed by you.

This is why I hate ebay, any fuckmook can screw over an honest seller if he wants to.

Is the O2 sensor that thingy in the pic?

If so, because it's there, and because you've said "as is", it doesn't imply any working order whatsoever. You haven't even specified that it works, or will work.

An appropriate letter would be as such:

"Dear tropicalblue;

Eat a dick.

Love, customizedperf."

Well I contacted eBay about this guy and they suggested that I call him and told me how to find his contact info.
So I'll give him a call and try to reason with him.

Wish me luck.
