they are certainly cheap to buy, it's the keeping them on the road and your time that gets expensive!!

especially in the UK when you have to pay £245 per year just for the road tax for a 1.3!!!

unless its a 2000 or older model 1.5, then the tax is only £125... doesnt make sense!! (plus they're only like £300 to £700 to buy a decent one last i checked) :-D

I might be selling mine soon... i am, however, sincerely considering getting a 1.5 or 1.6 Lanos and see what i can do with that.

Yeah, some cars in the UK are dirt cheap... as long as u dont mind having to fix it at least once a week. occasionally you can find decent bargains tho, like one of my mates who bought a mercedes 190D for £200 and sold it for £600, then money from that combined with what he had save bought a lexus is200 sport for £2000 with nothing but the slightest ever scratch marks here n there. now thats a bargain.

yes, yes it is

i was thinking things more like evos
an evo 5 here would be around £10000 but can't you get like evo8's for less than that? (plus you get the fq versions :( )

The general rule as I see it for evo pricing (if you just want an un-tuned, daily-used one) is the evolution number is the price in thousands, ie: evo4 costs around £4000, evo5 = £5000, evo6 = £6000 and so on, with the exception of the evoX, which is still highly priced.

I was tempted a couple years ago to buy an evo1 which I had found for £1500 and it was on the market for quite a while, but the money i saved ended up getting blown in a single night on booze, club entried and strippers. NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN!

I have another lanos now. should be getting the turbo on within the next six months:) I have everything I need except for forged rods unless someone can tell me the stock rods will handle 250 hp if they are shotpeened and nitrided?

are you keeping the 1.6? the 1.6 come stock with forged rods. you really only need ARP rod bolts if you only want 250. I have ARP rod bolts main studs and head studs if you're interested. I can also provide a cometic MLS head gasket and several different levels of performance clutches. I also have a light weight flywheel that was in my 1.6 before I went to the 2.0. it's awesome and it's been modified to use the larger 2.0 pressure plate and disc if you wanted to.
