now do you have someone to put together the kit and tune it for you like a tuner shop? b/c this isn't something a novice should be doing.

Maximum Boost is a great book for people of all skill levels.... it's a bit technical in some areas..... but you will learn lots..... I promise.

lanos2001 wrote:well you won't be able to just buy a turbo kit for your car. you'll have to piece one together. and SRI = Short Ram Intake or you could go with CAI = cold air intake. and definately go with a cat-back exhuast. go with 2inch piping. and get that second tip connected too b/c i'm sure you can tell that ones not hooked up when one gets dirty and the other is still shining after driving for a while.
Nick.....you are confused.... complete turbo kits have been available for about 2 years...... have you never looked at the turbo kits 360 Dynamics offered for the 1.6L ????

We still buy stuff from the guy all the time.... I dropped a couple grand this summer/fall..... the parts should arrive any day now. (clutches, manifolds, custom machined forged pistons, race quality piston pins... and more )

These kits I'm talking about are for the Corsa.... which bolts right up to the Lanos Aveo.

The big problem is the great distance the parts have to travel.... they get shipped via sea freight to decrease the horrible shipping costs.

Needless to say.... there are orders on a yearly or semi-yearly basis.

So if AveoSSTurbo wants a kit..... all he has to do is come up with the money and I will make one magicly appear.

IF you're going turbo on a Woo, then get a better ECU (standalone or SMT piggy-back). The turbo systems that use the stock ECU aren't hardly tunable and use goofy aquarium check-valves to hide boost from the ECU

Save yourself an additional 600 bucks for a megasquirt or triple that for an AEM or MoTeC... then any decent shop can tune it, and tune it right.

Hey! It worked damn good for 12 months/30000 kms! :p Only reason it stopped was due to a piston ring wearing a bit quicker but she was getting old already anyways :)
But there is a lot of power to be found from having a good tune with a piggy back/standalone ECU on a turbo Woo.

Oh yes - and Hi/Welcome by the way. Turbo Woo for the win!

I have recently installed a turbo system on my Optra (check the forced induction forum for my ongoing thread) ....... I had a CAI before that was drawing air from inside the bumper, and now there is a short pipe coming off the turbo for the intake, which is sucking air in towards where my battery is located on drivers side. The air coming in there is certainly warm, but once it passes through the intercooler, most if not all of the heat is gone, because the charge pipes after the IC are always nice and cold, even alot colder than when I just had the CAI.

I can't remember the dimensions of mine, but its big enough for my application (check the pics lol). I know it was bought off the shelf, as most of them are. I'm sure you can find one to fit somewhere, theres so many different sizes and shapes and companies. I'd imagine it would be quite expensive to have a custom one made....

Just take a quick measurement of the space behind your front bar and look on eBay - there will be plenty there!
