Speeding ticket, 120+

woah thats crazy.
yeh there is a fair bit of tolerance in australia with our cops and speeding. like not everyone gets off, but if your not driving a hotted up car, and your youngish, alot of the time they just give you a warning and walk really slow and stuff to scare you. ive got 3 friends all who were let off with warnings, but they were going no more than 20 over the limit.

But when you take them to court... they can't prove that you were speeding since they didn't get you on the radar, correct?jurupa wrote:My insurance I believe is $600 every 6 months and I am 21 years old. So the silver lining is that you can turn your car into an non-street legal race vehicle and take it out on autocross tracks and rally racing!!!!
So..... given you just got a ticket and nothing else.... your pretty lucky.
Yeah im glad i just got a ticket.. but personally this is going to hurt me so much. My insurence was already $250 a month.. and they dont even know im a driver. See when i bought my car i only had 85% of the money so my parents paid the rest and got it in there name... and when they got insurence on it they never asked if there were any other drivers than my Dad. When i turn 18 though im getting it in my name and it shoudl be over 300 a month w/o anything on my record.
KnightWalace if that is true in Arizona then I wil be carefull in that state. I know in California cops must have their driving lights on. But like in Arizona, California cops can stay at a certain speed and see how much distance you are putting between him or her and then make a "math" call and say that you where speeding. I have been pulled over once by this method and got off the hook which was extremely lucky.

Once a cop passed me like that... I was going on the highway about 80mph (in a 65mph zone), the cop flew by me with no lights on going at least 100mph.... I've decided to catch up and just follow him, but by the time I made my mind he was already gone. Also, it's a waste of gas.
they can say they estimated the speed from how long it took him to get from point A to point B which might be like a 1/4 mile. or do what the cop did in this instance was follow the car a bit to try and match the speed and go off of that. unfotunately there are more loop-holes to benefit cops than motorists.

If you get lucky and have an old police car with no camera in it, then it will be harder to prove in court. But I believe the newer cop cars with cameras in them show the speed the cop car is going so all they have to do is show the video tape and you done.AcingTeam wrote:But when you take them to court... they can't prove that you were speeding since they didn't get you on the radar, correct?jurupa wrote:My insurance I believe is $600 every 6 months and I am 21 years old. You can't technically prove you were speeding with Vascar or stopwatch methods either... Human Error. a flip of the switch or a millisecond late stop on the stopwatch can sometimes result in a human error of +/- 10 or so mph. Where i live, radar is available but Vascar and Timewatch's are the most common methods... so to be honest... if the cop thinks you're speeding... you're speeding... of course you can ask for the mercy of the court and say I learned my lesson, can I please pay the fee and have my one goodwill ticket with no points. especially for 120mph... be lucky you drove home and didn't get made some ugly hairy guy's bitch.
Frankly, the loopholes for the cops to never be wrong are rediculous... thats why you shouldn't speed. Or atleast don't get caught.

Look at the name on the ticket..... track down the cop....and have someone take all the air out of the tires on all his vehicles shortly before he has to come to court.
If the cop doesn't show up...... they throw out the case.
Or..... put superglue in all his house locks the night before.... so when he comes home he won't be able to get into his house.
Or.... buy a badger and let it loose in his house.
Or.... throw concusion grenades through his bedroom window at 3am prior to the court date.
Or.... place little tiny ball bearings all over his walkways and driveway
Or.... you could frame him for murder
Or.... get a 5 gallon bucket of roof tar.... warm it up and smear it everywhere..... house doors, car doors/locks, motorcycle key locks, garage doors.
When the tar sets he won't be able to open his doors or start his vehicles.
Or.... pay a hooker to jump him.... video him and blackmail him with the tape
Or.... you could pay a Hell's Angel to beat him up the day before the court date.
Or..... you could burn down his house
Or.... you could kidnap his favorite pet and hold it for ransom
Or..... you could set up an electric fence around his house using very thin piano wire.... so he doesn't see it when he comes out the door....and zap he's down for the count
Or.... you could attach an explosive collar around his neck and make him do whatever you want
Or... you could break into his house and slip some sleeping pills into his coffee maker the night before.
Or...........well......... I think I've given enough ideas...... I'm sure you will come up with something.

I also know tons of people who get lucky w/ warnings. I just found out from a friend though several horus prior to my ticket there were about 10-15cops pulling people over on that freeway in the same area.vjx987 wrote:woah thats crazy.

Very very few cop cars have cameras in them. Like maybe one out of the entire department. I talked to a cop about it once.. he said it wsa just to expensive and not worth the money.jurupa wrote:If you get lucky and have an old police car with no camera in it, then it will be harder to prove in court. haha.. the cop doesnt have to show up to this one.Erfinder@PrecisionBoost wrote:Look at the name on the ticket..... track down the cop....and have someone take all the air out of the tires on all his vehicles shortly before he has to come to court.

This one i just tell the judge if im guilty of innocent.. if i say innocent then i have another court date thats probabyl w/ the cop that pulled me over.. At least this is how it worked last ticket i got, but that was criminal. lol. Last time i told the judge i was innocent.. he had me come up to him and whispered in my ear "If you say guilty ill just let you off w/ a class" then asked me again and i said guilty. lol
but great ideas... id probably end up doing 50% of them if there was a good chance i could lose my license.
I still need to know if the court can change it to criminal or if its already written in stone? cuz they cant (i doubt) take yuour license/supended it for civil.
