I know how much we all like using Gates belts in our engines, partially because they are really good, partially because they're the only good ones we can get.
Well, at any rate, my friend's dad recently became CIO of Gates America, and I recently got a "gift box" of every belt required for all of my 4 cars. Saved me a ridiculous amount of money and I never have to buy another belt as long as he works there.
Gates is also developing a Carbon Fiber belt (yes, carbon fiber that bends). They are already using them in industrial equipment and various motorcycle applications, but have yet to adapt them to cars because of the noise level. But they'll have them on the market soon enough, and our Daewoos and most other cars will have lifetime timing belts, ending one of the biggest and most fatal problems to our engines.
Just thought someone might like to know.
