No lie, these cars are well built, contrary to popular belief. I loaned my car to my sister for a day a couple years back, and some yahoo in an Escort managed to rear-end the Lanos. When I heard the news, I thought my car was gone. But just the opposite. The Escort's front clip buckled and he dropped a bumper and radiator. I had a crack in my bumper cover which I patched with fiberglass and sprayed it at my friend's shop and took the insurance money for myself. He had over $3000 damage on his car!

i have been rear ended twice, the first time caused $11,000 damage to the other guys honda and left me with only a scratch, and the second time the guy hit me at 60km when i was stationary and he bent his bonnet up, smashed his headlights, ripped his bumper off and broke his grill and there were only 2 little scratches on my car
