well... the engine and tranny i have are a little over 5 feet long

the way i figure it, i can put the engine in the passenger side of the car for balance (with me and the fuel tank on the other side) and then just have a longer axle on my side of the car :p

i'm definitely going to do the rollcage and such inside. this project brings to mind the mini that could turn on a dime

it'll be a long time before i actually get to work on it, but i couldn't pass this up :p

There's some guy that's fixing my sister's mini: He's got an old Clubman with a Civic Type-R engine in it. 175-odd-kw in a car that's like 500kg... damn.

well... i'm in the process of filing out my paper work for the "Grassroots Motorsports $2006 Challenge." what that is, is a contest to see who can build the best race car for under $2006. you must drag race it and autocross it.

www.grmotorsports.com <~ look at the $2006 challenge

you can see i've opted for a pull-rod suspension to keep the CG low and to keep it cheap. the shocks are from a mountain bike sporting 700lb/in rates with a 1.5" stroke. that's 1000ish pounds on each one before they bottom out so i'm happy with that. the bell cranks on the pullrods will up that to around a total compression force of around 2000 pounds

that is the right shock... just the wrong spring.
