Whats With The Big Brakes ??

Post by python235 »

Did u guys ever think of the brakes that are bigger in a physical way?!?!
no what is known is that a big brake stops faster !!
BUT LETS SAY NO ABS (ABS SUCK ON STREET RACING) and we put bigger brakes
THAT WOULD CAUSE AN EARLY LOCK AT THE BRAKES AND THGE TIRE BEGINS SLIPING !!!
Now if u see it in another angle smaller brakes dont lock on high speeds they keep sliping and help decrease speed other than locking and then start slipping uncontroled..

EXPLAIN IT PEOPLE :D

Yep, just like anything there has to be some moderation. You can't go too big or else you'll constantly lock up. Can't go too small or else ya wont slow down fast enough.

To me (for the US Lanos), the perfect set up is the same size front rotor, and do the rear disc swap. Making sure to use the correct proportioning valve and then I'm good to go.

Well big brakes hurts your power to wheels alot (even if they weight the same. But your braking greatly can improve. Too keep from locking up at low speeds you just dont put as much pressure... its not that hard. But at high speeds the big brakes will greatly help.. although you can still lock up the brakes at 120mph if your brakes are good enough and you have a lead foot.

i have big brakes.. they only lock when there is little pebbles on the road. but they stop like no other!!!!

its not that much of a power difference.. in fact they might be lighter then the stock rotors because they are made mostly of aluminum as with the stock rotors are all steel

who knows if you notice it or not. Are they bigger in diameter too? thats when it'll really start to hurt cuz not only are they heavyier but there is more weight on the outside which makes it harder to get going

no they are not bigger, they are just the same size of the OEM rotors only 0.5 Kgm heavier... i think the extra weight (extra metal) will help in heat resistance so them brembo rotors won't get hot as easy as the OEM rotors...right??

They would probably take longer to heat up but my guess is it would also take longer to cool down. They're probably made out of better meterial to resist heat too though

no they came with no warranty... but that is in Egypt, not sure what you can get in other countries.

the guy that sold me those rotors told me that those are the best money can buy for a lanos... other rotors available in our market are crap and so far he has been proven right.

Big brake conversions also expel heat faster being that they have more surface and it takes less pressure to stop than a smaller rotor with a smaller calliper
i dont know if any of that made sence because i dont even get what im saying...............need sleep.......

Yeah it does... less heat is also one of the best single things you can gain with brakes in my opinion. When the rotors heat up it heats the tires up.. for race purposes the tires are already too hot during a race (unless autox with some tires) so you dont need any extra heat. Also means the brake fluid is less likly to boil which causes your brakes to lock up... that sucks, trust me. Dot5 brake fluid will pretty much elimnate that problem with stock brakes though.
