GFs first car...

Post by kinkyllama »

We looked at leganzas and she likes them alot. Plus i was even amazed at how cheap they are! i mean.. damnnn. Is that cuz daewoo went bankrupt? cuz they're like a crazy buy... we looked at like three, all under 5k.. all under 60k miles (as low as 34k). Make me wanna go out and buy one for the hell of it

But just woudering.. if you had under 10k what would you buy? Something that isnt too dull and is realiable and safe. Performance doesnt really matter.

Depends on what you need.

under 10k?

4 door econo sedan - Mitsubishi Lancer Oz Rally or, Used '04 (100k, 10 year warranty bumper to bumper) Or a Toyota Corolla (my ex had one, not bad car)
Hatch - Aveo/Lanos/CRX
Coupe - 2nd Gen Celica/DSM (although the DSM's have had Problems)
2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart
Stock.. Till summer (good job coming)

RRM Turbo Kit
VRS 3" Exhaust with a MeganRacing Carbon Fiber muffler.
Some other goodies.

If I had just under 10k, I wouldn't even think and go and buy an Acura Integra GSR (170hp, light, VTech). No question about it!!

for performance?

Grab an 95-99 Gs-T or GSX ... i found one locally for 6k and only had 38k miles... and you'd kill any tegra...

Under 10k your looking

Toyota:
Celica or old old supra
Mitsu:
1st/2nd Gen Eclipse
3000GT (hehehe)
Honda:
Civic/Tegra
Hyundai:
Tiburon
Mazda:
MX3
MX6
Mazdaspeed Protege
Ford:
Focus SVT *Used can be found around 10-11k*
Chevy:
Cavalier Z24
Nissan:
300Zx TT
240Sx
200Sx
Sentra

Nothing against the tegra but it's far to common for the under 10k used market... I think it's cool knowing what you want ... to each his own.

Acing if you're seriously looking to get rid of the woo and start tuning a more aftermarket available car... check out the Lancer Ralliart dude...
i got a 2k4 for 10.3k with only 13k on the odometer..

162hp/162tq and there's already a turbo kit and a supercharger kit.

or even get a Base lancer (probably an OZ '04+)
Same body/interior as the 2k4 Ralliart but with the 120 hp engine, and there is a stage 1 & 2 turbo kit out there.

although even after driving about 10 different cars ... i still think that The Lanos 1.6l Engine packs a punch at it's level... I can't wait till summer (2 Months!!!!)

I'm Rebuilding my lanos engine and swapping a different tranny in.

Probably a D20, but i don't have the time or the knowledge to start the 2.0l swap... since i can pretty much do everything to my lancer as i choose, when i go to wyotech i'm using the Woo as my car to tune... And i'll prolly do a nubie swap. Just gotta find a used nubi Cheap.

i'm looking at $1500-$1750 for the tranny/engine/ecu... but I think it'll be a hell of a turnaround.

And I may just turbo it if Erfinders Turbo optra will work on the 2.0l.

But to each his own... do what you're into ...

What happened to your 240sx idea?

Get one and drop an RB26dett.

Hmmmm...... if I had $10K to spend....

I would buy a Daewoo Nubira Hatchback ( like Debo890's ) for around $3500.

I would rebuild the engine and turbocharge it with the remaining money.

Engine (guessing at prices )

--> Forged Rods $1200
--> Forged Pistons $600
--> Peformance Rings $150
--> High performance metal gasket $100
--> Larger Injectors $300
--> SAFC II $350
--> Adjustable fuel regulator $400
--> MSD DIS-2 & Coil pack $500
--> Clutch rated for 400hp $500
--> Underdrive Pulley $200
--> Adjustable Cam gears $300
--> Turbo Manifold & Wastegate $600
--> T3/T4 Turbo $600
--> Ceramic Coat pistons $150
--> Spend the rest on the cylinder head.... port,polish,multiangle valve seats, larger valves, stiffer valvesprings.

Of course you would have one hell of a fast car but the rest of it would be stock.

Don't assume these prices are correct.... they are just guesses.... I don't really know how much everything costs.

Then buy a regular Jetta, that's what girls drive. I still say that Acura Integra GSR with 170hp is the best.

Can she drive a standard? If not your going to want more torque than a GSR.

I still think the Honda crew isn't as good as some of the cars in the 10k region....

Even a Scoobie

Keep it that way... you don't want to get her into street racing where she can get hurt (or even on the track).

especially if she can only drive an automatic. :)

Look into a lancer bud, the warranty is untouchable.

and theres a lot of mods if she decides she wants to change it.
