Forum hosting help!!!

Hey guys, I joined here a while back from aveoclub.net. For a while now we've been struggling with spam as our Admin. exodus is MIA and hasn't been on in months. so, our dilemma is we cannaot promote any members to mods. I think we have 2 total. Lately about 3 or 4 of us have all been sharing a mods account to take some of the load off his shoulders. Anyways, we are talking about moving the forum to a new server and starting fresh and just copying some threads over, but reorganizing everything to make it more user friendly. Anyone have any good suggestions for forum hosting servers? Any advice you can offer would be useful. Thanks, Mike.

chances are your phpbb is out of date. weve had a very bad problem with spam herein the past. i was udgraded to mod because of it. as soom as efrain updated the phpbb the spam almost stopped completly. your gonna have to get the admin to update the phpbb

That's the problem, we can't. He hasn't been on in months and won't respond to emails or PM's. I think we are almost to the point of moving the threads to a new site. Just asking for some advice here.

As mofo said the upgrade to a new phpbb did help but we then made a few changes to the visual confirmation system and things have been doing better.

So unless something is done with admin controls you cannot do much.

Update: We got the new sit up and it is set up similair to daewootech.com. The new sit url is aveonetwork.com. So far so good. We're still in the process of moving important threads but it is up and functional.
