I made a post some months ago about having problems with my horn. Well now it is completely dead and before taking it to a mechanic to fix it I wanted to try the fuses...
how do I replace the big fuse (name?) thats in the engine compartment and where could I find a replacement for it?
thanks!
How do I check/replace the big fuse for the horn?

Relay..thats the word I couldnt find

Daewoomofo, Im completely ignorant when it comes to electrical stuff..got any links that explain how to use a voltmeter?

also, is there any special way to remove the relay or do I just yank it off.... dont want to cause unnecesary damage.
thanks guys

my instructions were for checking a fuse but you could prolly do the same thing with a relay

(please note, theis may not be the actual wire colors, or their location on the relay)
an easier way to test this is with a test tight (less than $10, at any tool/parts store)
you will need to perform this test with the relay on the car, still pluged in
first off conncet the clip to the pos post of the battery. poke the other end of the test light (t/l for short) through the rubber coating on the wires going to/from the relay. there should be one wire that lights the t/l up. when you find that wire mark it as the neg.
second you need to find the positive wire. hook the clip to the neg post on the battery. when poke through the other wires, when the t/l lights up you mark that wire as the positive.
if you are unable to find the pos, or the neg you have other issues than the relay. if you cant find a neg, you need to reground the relay. if you cant find the pos, you prolly have a blown fuse
the remaining 2 wires are the incomming power (from the horn button) and the out going power (to the actuall horn) leave the clip on the negaitve post of the battery, poke the t/l through the rubber on one of the remaining wires (the ones that arent the pos, or neg), have a friend push the horn button, the t/l should light up. now do the same with the other wire. if you get both wires to light up your relay is fine. if only one of the 2 wires (not the neg or pos) lights up, you need a prolly need a relay.
i hope that made sence. if not in sure some one can give better instructions. good luck, keep us posted
