front speakers - is there a crossover?

Post by robotx »

i want to replace the front speakers in my '00 nubira wagon. i have the factory components that i'm sure everyone else is familiar with - 4" in the door, tweeter on the pillar.

does anyone know if there is a crossover between the head unit and these speakers (sending highs to the tweets and mid/lows to the doors)? if i replace the door speakers with new coaxials, theoretically the factory tweets will still be functional. i'd like to eliminate them altogether, or (worst case) keep them and just install mid/bass drivers in the doors.

any light that can be shed on this is much appreciated.

There is no filter here. Speakers are simply wired in parallel.

weird...

so those tweeters are getting full range sound? the bass frequencies going to those things must blow them on a regular basis.

so i guess my next question is...how do i eliminate the sound going to the tweets and just keep the door speakers? is there a wire(s) i can cut or something?
