need help with amp wiring

first of all...
where is a good earth point in the boot? i've looked all over, found one, but it wasnt good enough.
havnt had a chance to properly look the whole boot over for a earth point, but some pointers for direction as to where i can find one would be great.

seondly..
where does the "remote" wire plug into behind the head unit?! i was "remotely" (lol) confused by this. because the last time helped a friend wire up his amp and subwoofer, it didnt have this remote wire. and is it needed?

here are the specs, before anyone asks: the car: lanos hatchback, subwoofer: 12" 1000w. amp: mono-channel 800w, "wiring kit is good for 1000w"

I would tell you my ground point but I'm having problems at the moment which may indicate it's not good enough.

Anywhere should be fine as long as it's sanded away to bare metal well enough.

Remote wire - get your stereo manual (look online if you don't have it). Connect it to Electric Antenna/Accessory if it's there (usually a blue wire), or you can use Ignition (usually yellow wire) but Electric Antenna line is preferred as the amp will come on/off with your stereo.

It is needed or your amp will be on all the time, or wont come on at all, depending on how the amp was made.

ok, i get it now... thanx for that.
i had a temp earth point, and my amp doesnt come on at all if the remote wire isnt connected.
as soon as i am awake enough i'll have a crack at it again.

Try the ground point you used before but make sure it's well sanded so you see the metal.

It didn't come on because the remote wire wasn't connected, it's like the on switch.

We get so many people at work complaining about their amps not turning on when they haven't even connected that wire

success!!

used the original ground point, but of course, sanded it down a bit. so it works.
and then wired up the remote wire to the blue wire behind the head unit... and we have power! lol

jus need to find a place where no one is around so i can test it out.
and i still need to mount the amp somewhere as for now its jus laying there in the boot.

I mounted mine here, it saves a lot of space as it's out the way.

Can you take a photo and show me where your ground point is please?

The bolts that hold the backrests of the rear seats to the pivot hinge work well as ground points!

i tried that, but cudnt get the bolts off! lol
probly wud have helped if i used a longer spanner

Socket set for the win!!!!

Using a socket will get that baby off in no time. You might need to tap the bar hard a few times (rather than just using constant brute force) to break the loctite.

It's what i earth to, works a charm.

the bolts that bold the seat belts to the body work really well too. you can get to them by pulling up on he front part of the lower part on the rear seat and there are 2 clips that will pop out and there is a bolt where the bottom and back parts meet up. i had mine grouned like that for a couple years until i moved my amps farther into my trunk

nah... all good now, got a good earth point... a hidden one of course.
i'll take a picture jus to show where the wire leads to, cos u wont be able to see the actual point of contact.

i used the seatbelt anchor points for my earths. I have an amp on each side of my backseat, the big side for the big amp and the small side for the small one

i blew 2 door speakers yesterday... luckily they werent expensive.
should get new ones (again) soon.

the amp is wired up and good to go. jus need a suitable box for my sub now. the sub-in-parcelshelf was not such a good idea... evrything jus rattled to pieces.

subs dont work properly if they arent boxed anyway. i had a sealed box but then i went to the effort of building a ported box and i am glad i did because the difference is extreme. I made it to the manufacturers specifications
