Remote Locking - reprogramming required?

Post by NubiraSE »

Hello Guys,
I bought a 1998 R Daewoo Nubira 1.6 SE today and all is fine bar the standard remote central locking (and alarm - not sure). The remote has new batteries in it but does not lock and unlock the car or do anything. Can this be reprogrammed and if so where can i get it done in the UK?

Also does the remote activate/deactivate the standard alarm on the car?

Thanks, Matt

The receiver and remote can be programmed to work together at a service center that has the tool to do so.

I do not know if the model you have has an alarm system or not, but my Leganza has a factory alarm that is activated/deactivated with the locking/unlocking with the remote.

It was actually funny how I found my car had an alarm. :)
The driver window was open, but the car was locked with the remote. I reached into the window and pulled the boot release lever.
The boot opened and the alarm went off!
I jumped and it scared me ... I nearly hit my head on the top of the car since I was leaning into the car when it happened. :lol:

Thanks for the reply dude.

I took apart the remote and found that the battery wasn't actually touching the two metal terminals. I gently pulled them together and then pressed the button. The red light then came alive.

I tried it but the car still didnt recognise the remote, so read the drivers manual that came with the car and followed the procedure. This is as follows;

- deactivate the theft prevention system (the flashing padlock) to do this turn the key to a position and then off and remove.
- then press a remote button three times within five seconds.
- this will then reconfigure itself with the car.

Heres a pic of the beast;

So now i have a working remote central locking and alarm. Two indicator flashes when opened and one when closed.

The alarm works too....it sounds so funny. Not as meaty as the Ford Mondeo one.

Cheers,
Matt

Did it work? Do you have the same remote as mine?
