I'm sure it's a seat belt fault.Check all belts' connections to ensure they are ok.

I'm telling you I'm almost sure it's what I said :p It happened to my lanos. The rear - left belt connection was bad.

My 2002 Lanos HB has the light on, too.
The airbag module was replaced by the dealer and 2 weeks later the light came back on.

To make my car pass the state inspection, I removed the light bulb inside the dash so it was not lit up. I know this is wrong, but the car would not pass inspection with the light on.
I will fix it when I can figure it out.

My car does not have air bag connections on the seat belts.
When removing the interior of my car, there were no wires on any part of any of any of the seat belts.

I firmly believe it is within your rights to tell a white lie (or unplug a bulb) when the government is unreasonably strict about something like that. :D

It should be a wire under that part:

The thing the belt is connected to.

There must be different seatbelt assemblies and air bag light sensors in different countries.

The seatbelt assembly does not look like that on my car.

Here is what the seatbelt looks like where it connects on a seat in a Lanos in the U.S.

As you can see, it bolts to the seat frame and has no sensors.
