How important is a CEL light?

Post by bluecube »

Hey everyone, I recently changed my instrument cluster but I did not connect the CEL light (the new cluster required a seperate wiring loom for this light). Do you think this will be a problem? I would like to think that I would notice something else other than a CEL light if something was wrong, but I guess you never can be too sure. Its just gonna be a bit of a pain in the ass to get behind the cluster again and wire it up. Any thoughts anyone? Is this a dangerous thing to do?

it is going to be a pain in the ass anyways when the car dies at some point and you never saw it comming... OK the CEL sometime comes on for little things but it is important to be functional... if the CEL comes on then you got a fault code that you can retrive and know the problem and sometimes early enough to prevent more problems to come.

i say get it done as soon as possble... pain during wiring a lamp is way less than fixing a busted car.
