well, when it comes to putting new speakers in the door (we're going to go with replacement instead of bigger) it's really not too hard.
you do have to take the door panel off, but it's really not that hard...
Door Panel Removal 1. Gently pull the black plastic triangle piece from the mirror area. It is held in with little pressure pins, it just pops off. On the driver's side (or where ever your manual mirror is) the little stick will just slide right through the hole, so don't be bashful. Then remove the trim ring from the handle. It is popped in and held in a similar fashion.
2. remove the three screws from the bottom of the door panel. Then remove the screw from the little dish on the arm rest (down inside)
Now the only thing holding your door are pressure pins... similar to those holding that black mirror trim piece on.
3. Start around the bottom, gently pulling the panel away from the door. the pins will one by one pop out until the door panel is free.
there you can get to the speaker and to do all your work. good luck!
hey kenny i've been trying to get my panel off forever but i can't get around my window roller. people keep telling me about the pin in it but i cna't see it or feel it when i try to get it off.
OEM speaker size in the front doors is 4 inch. It is possible to do 5.25 inch in the front but they cant go in too deep. I have some 5.25 speakers that the magnet just went too deep to fit in.
e-clips just pop out of place... use two small (like those "prescision") screwdrivers... one on each-side to pop it wide and then it will shoot off... haha
