rule of thumb with speaker box size is if its a 15 inch woofer you would want a box with 1.5 cubic foot of air space. or say if you had a 12 or 10 inch sub you would want 1.2 or 1.0 cubic feet of air space. hope that clears things up.

that's not exactly correct. It all depends on the subwoofer. Check the specs on your sub to see what the correct firing chamber volume should be.
