I grounded mine just on the quarter panel there is a bolt that is connected to the back window heater ground.
It works fine and I'm using 4g wire.

Oh so funny!
LOL
Anyway ...
More about noise:
What spark plug wires do you have?
Also, make sure your alternator is grounded properly and the points where it grounds are clean and free of corosion or dirt.
You may need a thicker or additional ground wire to your head unit, or even an engine noise supressor between the head unit and the power & ground wires.
Another good way to not get noise in your audio system is to keep it turned off and enjoy the sound of your engine! (that's not a very good option)
Have you tried a different amplifier in place of the one you are using now? Perhaps the amp has a fault and is creating noise in the system. That doesn't often happen, but it is a possibility.
Just some thoughts....
If I think of any more, I'll post them.

I'll beef up the ground wire on the h/u.
But unless the amp is busted then why would i have this noise now and not before?

The amps brand new... still a possibility though. I added a 8g ground wire to the h/u and it didnt help. The sound used to only happen with the engine on but not anymore. It's a loud buzzing too.. very loud.TheGreatAndPowerfulOz wrote:One of the internal components of the amp may be going bad and introducing noise into the system.
It happens sometimes. *shurg* No electronics live forever.
I have a mono amp laying around that i can hook up in its place.. but its about double the wattage as my SPL amp but i think it should be okay. Anyways how do i wire the speakers to it?

All the wires are seperated and the noise didnt change. The ground cable is only about a foot long.jorge wrote:You pass the rca cable near to the power cable?. The power cable tranfer the engine noise to the rca cable. Separe it. I use to ground my power amplifier to the rear seat belts. in the back part near the power amplifier. The ground cable need to be short.

I've also heard many bad reviews for Sony car audio products, although I know a friend with a set of Xplod subs, and an amp and he's yet to have any problems... So i wouldn't really know for a fact... Just going off reviews...TheGreatAndPowerfulOz wrote:Your problem might be the amp.
It is a Sony Xplod and they have a bad reputation for lots of problems; some even catch fire.
If you bought the amp locally, then take it back and have them test it.

No, I have an SPL amp.. the sony amp is a spare that i can put inplace of the SPL to see if the SPL is broken causing the noise. How do i wire my front componets to a mono amp?TheGreatAndPowerfulOz wrote:Your problem might be the amp.
