Lanos Guru's Please, Come Hither.

Post by KnightWalace »

I took my lanos to get the A/C and Toggle Switch for Defrost fixed (shaun i would've done it but it got worse) ...
The plastic ring on the cable was snapped (fixed with super glue)
The Fan Power was a transistor... he showed me and something popped off.... now... he fixed it...

Now i have cold air for all of 30-75 seconds and it gets hot... like an a/c fan or something just quit.... and quite frankly it's pissing me off... 80 degree weather with a hot car that only blows heat.

any suggestions?

Ok, when you click the power over to say 4, can you still hear the fans going. If so, then your AC compressor may be going bad. I've heard of a few people that had theirs go bad at low mileage.

That would be my best guess cuz even if the fan turned off you should still be getting some cold air in the car.

did you replace you AC oil/freon from time to time?... the lanos A/C still starts to work even if there isnt enhough gas/oil in it for some reason (shoudnt tbh) i had a costumer like that once he drove untill the AC actualy got stuck and snapped the belt from the AC.... mine also made a wierd noise a while ago and didnt cool... so i had it refilled and it worked again.... so i would say check the belt refill it.... hope it works... if it doesnt you need a new pump :s (had one that only did 4c lower then normal air other day also one that ran pump wich was almost empty)

Ok ... for a couple of times after he fixed it i heard a weird low pitched "Squelching" ... when i started it... it does run AC for about 30 seconds or a few more ... then it blows the heat from the engine in.... now what i was wondering... Where is the belt/Ac thingy you put the freon in?

80 with no A/C ... wow you are lucky .... it has been upper 90's & low 100's here with 90+ % humidity and the A/C in my Leganza is not working. Mine is not working because of a punctured condensor, which I have a replacement allready.

It does sound as though your A/C pump itself, or the clutch for the A/C pump is going bad.

squelshing?..... hmm that would either be the belt... or the pump... if the pump runs out off oil it will do that also and it will stop working.

the AC pump is front right ofthe car very low downwards (left should you stand infront of car) the filler hole is right side car (again left if infront) middle way the engine compartment (is a plastic cap screwed on it) if you wanna check quick if it still has freon in it yust take cap off and poke a screwdriver inside there (push down the baring ball) there should blow some out then pretty hard

It doesn't squelch anymore... it's just cold until my engine gets hot... like... as if the engine is heating a pipe ... or something?

I don't know but it's only sometimes... it works about 50%

doesnt your engine get to hot maybe? if your engine gets to hot the AC will cut out so the radiator pull colder air (you AC radiator gets warm when used so the air normal radiator pulls is also hot)

I had that this weekend on a tuningshow had my car running and it was a VERY VERY hot day... my cars temp went a little higher (not much) then the AC stops and the engine cools down and AC goes on again.

the AC will cut out if the temp meter goes a little above half (as for it should be right below half)

Hope this helps :)

Thing is about that wolf.... my engine temp meter never shows it going past half... i haven't hit half since i've owned it... but once it goes from about 1/4 up to a lil under half... it gets hot

ok, this may be a stupid question but do you have the temperature control turned all the way over to cold (blue)? Is it possible that this control is stuck in the hot position? Can you check to see if that cable too is even hooked up?
