Lanos power side mirror

Post by TheGreatAndPowerfulOz »

I just got a passenger side power mirror and the interior control switch from a car at the junk yard.

I cut the wiring harness off so I had the plugs on the wires that connect to the switch and the mirror itself so that I can just run my own wiring to make them work.

My question is, does anyone know which colour wires are power and ground so that I can get everything working?

If no one knows, I will just find them out by taking everything apart and testing what each wire does the way I did for the OEM fog light switch. :)

Thanks!

Use a multimeter on the wires if you have one.
A very valuable tool.

Put the red lead from the meter on one of the wires and put the black meter lead onto a good ground point. If you get numbers on the screen near 12V you've put your meter's red wire on the positive one. If you get nothing, try the other lead.

My apologies; I should have given more detail.
When I said there was no black and red wire, I had the mirror side plug in mind, not the switch side.

On the mirror plug, there are 3 wires: one that is gray with a white stripe, a yellow wire and a green wire.

On the switch side, there are 5 wires: one that is red with a white stripe, orange, purple with a white stripe, gray with a white stripe and black.

norbie, yes, I have multimeters, both analogue and digital. :)

I was just asking in here just to find out if anyone knew which wires went where because I am lazy and don't feel like figuring the wires out at the moment.
