ECU trouble code

Post by nubiracdx »

Hello , I have a Nubira CDX 2.0 Station Wagon, Model 1997. Since a few weeks it shows an intermittent problem: sometimes, when I turn on the engine, the "check engine" light turns on and the automatic gear don't work properly, the speedometer doesn't work and the "power" button neither. Suddenly, the problem disappear and everything goes fine for sometime.

The mechanic made a diagnostic with an scanner and said it shows codes 92 and 93. He said that it means a damaged ECU and I need to replace it to solve the problem. I don't know too much about this but it sound too drastic to me.

May someone give me a second opinion ?

Thanks in advance

I really don't know if it's a OBDII one. It's standard engine for Nubira in Venezuela where I'm located.

Another Technician said : " your fault could be caused by the vehicle speed sensor signal not being "seen" by the engine ECU or the instrument cluster. This could be a faulty sensor, a break in the wiring or just a case of the multiplug not pushed on correctly "

I guess it's a ALDL code. Not sure replacing ECU will solve the problem. It's maybe linked to a sensor or the like. Image
