A question for all those in the UK

Post by lanosguy »

Hi, I have heard mixed views about this, but are footwell neons (inside)and blue dash LED's (behind the gauges) illegal in the UK? I know that under car neons are, but I do not intend on going to shows to show off my car :)

Cops seem to be fine about blue led lit dash gauges, though I'm not sure on the footwell neons. Probably ok when parked up but I suspect they may tug you if they're on whilst driving and they seem bright ie. they light up the inside of the car like the interior light. Maybe if you check on one of the UK 'cruise' sites you may find more info.

I know this may not apply in UK, but in Canada the rules are:

- Any type of neon light (black light) visible while the vehicle is moving on a marked road is prohibited (dash backlight is OK)
- LED-style windshield washer lights are illegal.

anything inside the car is legal, anything that's exterior is illegal.
