car alarm keeps going off
ok i have a Codealarm model F60 in my 2001 lanos sedan. i was porfessionally in stalled a the local sound shop (cartunes). ive had a problem with it going off for NO reason at all. ive actually seen it go off when no ones near it or any thing like that. i went back to cartunes and they replaced the brain box. the next night it went off again. its been narrowed down to the hood switch setting it off. so they put a new mercury switch on my car. next night, it went off again. so they put a pin switch (like the ones on our doors for the dome light) and it still gets set off because of the hood. [btw it just went off as i was writing this.] does anyone have any ideas on what i can do to fix this? it is so bad that i cant arm my car because it will go off for no reson at all, my alarm is doing me NO good and i hate not having it with all of my stereo equiptment in there. please any one help!
if i were you id make sure that they replace all of the components/ make sure that your hood doesn't move whenever wind blows on it , making sure that is not the culprit. that goes the samw with the dorrs and windows, when wind blows up the vents in the car. it can create a lot of extra pressure in the car, and that could again be the culprit, since the alarms are very sensitive.
may not be any of that, but is worth testing out

Disconnect the shock sensor.
It sounds to me like it may be a faulty shock sensor.
For those of you that do not know what the shock sensor is, it is the switch that picks up vibrations, suck as someone touching the car, bumping into it, kicking the tire, a cat jumping on the hood or someone trying to wiggle the door handle to see if it will open.
It is usually installed on the steering column or the metal frame under the dash.
They look similar to this:
It may be clear so you can see the electronics, but they are usually black.
They also have a sensativity adjustment knob or screw to make them more or less sensative.
The alarm system will work just fine if you disconnect this sensor, so if you to take it out of the system and find that the alarm is no longer being activated, then you can have CarTunes replace that part.
Hey - if this didn't help, then maybe some time it will help someone else who has the same problem

i think the problem maybe something more simple than sensors
check all the cables and wired which are connected to the alarm system, maybe there is a wire not connected well and just a little vibration can move it so it keep connecting and disconnecting, maybe its a power cable or a sensor cable or wire, i think so...try to check this out by moving each wire, if that is the problem, this wire will keep connecting and disconnecting while ur moving it...its the only thing which remains to think about...
