Lanos Head unit swap

Post by Martin »

Hi Chaps, My better half has a 97 Lanos 1.6sx Auto and I am going to drag her kicking and screaming into the 21st century by changing her cassette play with a Pioneer CD player.
What I would like to know is does this car use standard iso style plugs or will I need to do some cutting and swapping? Thanks for any help.

Hello,

Welcome to the site :)

It will have a Daewoo connector.

You can either buy an adaptor like this:

Or just do what I did and cut the Daewoo connector off, put the ISO connector on it using connector blocks (you could use insulation tape), then your Daewoo is ISO'd up so it wouldn't matter if you bought a different ISO stereo in the future, it can go straight in.

Thanks for that, the car has a Sony cassette player rather than the original head unit when I bought it, I should have mentioned that, so the wiring will probably be modified already but I was just wondering what I should expect when I tackle the job.

if the wires are not cut, then DO NOT cut them! since it had a aftermarket head unit in it before, it will have the adaper. it plugs into the OEM plug and you connect the loose wires from the head unit and the plug.
