question time..

Post by woo »

here is the problem.., My girlfriends sterio consists of a 4x50w head unit, a 640w amp, 180w 6.5' splits, 160w 6.5' coaxils and 2 600w subs. now, the amp powers the front speakers and the subs and the headunit powers the rears. Problem being we fade it to the rear a bit but we can never get enough volume from the rear. The amp is set to about 50% power for the front speakers. If i hooked up both the front and rear speakers to the front channels of the amp would all 4 receive equal power?? or would they all recieve half the power?? If the recieve half the power, would the front speakers recieve the equivilant power to the amp being set at 50% if it was set at 100% with 4 speakers running in parallel?? If i set it up like that will the amp draw more power than the 8 guage (its needs a 4 guage i know) power cable can handle (the amp already does when its cranked but would it at a lesser volume before)???????will it blow the fuse?? What are the risks and results??

i think your best bet would be to get another 2 channel or mono amp to run the subs on, and use the four channel amp for your fronts and backs

if the amp is two ohm stable then it will send full power to each speaker but you might not be abel to adjust your fade from front to back

if its not 2 ohm stable then the amp will cut out shortly after you turn it on

the amp can run at 2 ohms so it should be ok, but just to be safe i might try it out on my little alpine cause if i break anything from the pulsar i will get hung

aiight.... running 4 speakers off 2 channels works fine. I put one of the 12' subs in my car and i notice the bass is a bit louder then when i was using 6x9's for bass, but i felt more of a kick from the 6x9's then from the sub. I could feel the 6x9s from the drivers seat, but i cant feel the sub, even though i can hear it louder.

run the subs on the alpine, if you cant feel the 12 behind you its WAY under powered, you need to push more power to it
