I think you normally need a BOSS kit to adapt the new wheel to the daewoo. You should be able to pick one up off ebay i believe.

You'll need a speciallty TORX bit with a hole in the center to get the screws that hold the steering wheel on. Past that, its all easy....

Don't worry about it, thats only if you previously had an airbag in your steering wheel. Your car came without airbags stock, so your insurance won't change at all..

Actually its more to do with the car is more likely to get stolen when u do mods to it for obvious reasons and thats what the insurance looks at. If there was 2 daewoos, one which had a few mods and a nice steering wheel, and one bog standard, which do u think is more likely to get knicked? :p

Mmm, I don't think the mods have anything to do with it. When you sign up for insurance, they don't ask you what type of seats you have or what steering wheel you use. They simply ask for the model, do a quick look at the outside and make sure it isn't damaged, and send you on your merry way with a predetermined quote. Simply changing out the steering wheels on a car will not do anything.

The only reason it would raise rates would be if you took out a steering wheel with an airbag to put in one with no airbag. They'll charge you more because if you crash, there is a greater chance of death, meaning they'd have to pay your premium out to your family or to the person you hit.

Here it is all about safety, not modifications. At least in the states anyway, I don't know the protocol in Australia...

Hot poop. I'll get one ordered at SuperCheapAuto for $80AUD. Minus 25% for staff discount, or at least sleeping-with-staff discount.

Maaate, be careful, the guys at SCA can be a bit hairy!!! :D Things ya can do for a new steering wheel!!

Just wondered, what happens about construction and Abuse regs here, do they get Arsy about steering wheels that are non-standard. next Pink slip time(not mentioning sleeping with staff here!), will they knock you back at all, or do you go to the same place as I do?!?!
