Ipod adapter for 01' Laganza 6-Disc CD-Changer Headunit

Post by samadhi »

So basicly i'm looking for a way to connect my Ipod to my headunit via the 8-pin DIN CD-Changer port on the back in my 2001 Laganza

I've found basicly 3 types of these adapters by searching around:

There are CD-Changer to Headphone jack adapters, and CD-Changer to Ipod Dock connector adapters, which both just outputs audio to your speakers, and can only be controlled from the ipod.
Here is an example of the CD-Changer to Ipod Dock: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=884

Now the type i'm looking for goes from CD-Changer to Ipod dock and allows you to control the ipod from the headunit. You can skip songs, FF, RW, ect with your headunit buttons.
I've found these for other cars, but none for a Daewoo.
Here is a brand example: http://www.pie.net/applepie.cfm
I called them up and they don't know if any of their products would be compatible with a daewoo headunit.

The headunit is an AKF-0646w (according to the manual). It says AKF-0646LA on the back of the unit itself.. The CD-Changer is an AKD-80C.
I'm hoping to just be able to buy an adapter instead of a whole new headunit.

Does anyone know if this headunit is compatible with any specific connector type? Say an Alpine Mini-bus, or Pioneer CD-Changer port.

Or if anyone has found a connecter (with or without headunit control) please share your knowledge :)

- Much appreciated -

Ah, I should have mentioned my headunit is the factory default from Daewoo. I searched for information on it forever. I did find the manual in Korean but online translators make it really hard to understand.

Also, does anyone know the 16-pin connector type? I think it's Type-C or something.

ya, I tried a couple different transmitters, and they both came out very staticy on all available frequencies.. which is very few as it is, living in the middle of seattle. I also tried a tape deck adapter, and it works, but the sound quality isn't very good.

After doing some more research I think i'm just gonna go for a new headunit.

Anyone got any recommendations?
I got room for 1 or 2-DIN, and from the player i'm looking for CD / WMA / MP3, with an MP3 ID-Tag display LCD, and auxilary input for playing / controlling the I-pod. My power wire harness is an 18-pin. Hopefully I can find an adapter for it.
