stutter-box

Post by Audacity Racing »

hey... has anyone got any idea how i would make a stutter box for my lanos?

oh, for those of you who don't know what it is...

a stutter box allows you to shift without taking your foot off the gas. when you press the clutch it cuts the fuel (a rev limited in effect) and then when you release it lets you go free again... so there is no lifting of the gas pedal and the shifts are pretty seamless

any idea?

Then press the throttle and you will have revs :p

Its part of the joy of driving a manual car, so don't be lazy and go practice your timing ;)

You have the MSD DIS-2 right?

I just bought one.. havnt hooked it up at all yet but reading about it im not sure you could do it in a way thats actually worth it. Although come to think of it.. you can set the rev limiter at about what rpm you shift into in the next gear and that may give what you want. Yeah when you shift to different gears you start back down at a little different rpms from one another but not a whole lot. Thing is your car would be hitting the rev limiter between gears and people would probably think you dont know how to drive

on the dis 2 programable. you can set so many rev limiters and timing retards.. so lets say you want it to rev limit at 3k every time you shift.. you get a momentary switch and hook it to the clutch pedal to activat at the length you would push it to shift. then hook it to one of the many switched rev limiter wires and get one your laptop and program your box to say.. when that switch is pressed it will cut the revs down to 3k

now you have it set up.. you go out to the street and rev to 6k in first push the clutch and instantly the msd box cuts the revs to 3k even though you foot is still on the gas, put it in second gear and let the clutch go and the msd box turns off the rev limiter and off you go.

i need to read the manual again.. i know there static rev limiter and one for nos... when you hit hte nos button it will rev limit and retard. there is one for burn outs then ther is one that is a switched rev limiter..
