Lanos 2001 1.5L blowing ECU fuse & now ENGINE SENSOR fus

Post by pjn »

Hi All,

The wife's Lanos has blown the ECU (B+) fuse (15A) about 4 times since purchased new which has been a mystery but not to much trouble.

This morning the ECU (B+) and ENGINE SENSOR (15A) fuses were both blown and replaced to get her running again.

This afternoon the ENGINE SENSOR fuse was blown and replaced.

Every time this happens before today it was when the wife was starting the car first thing in the morning and of course it would just keep turning over but not start.

Today was quite hot, especially this afternoon when she tried to start.

I've checked google and searched these forums but while some people say they have the same problem - no one seems to have an answer :-(

Has anyone come across the problem before and how did they fix it?

I've check for chafed wiring in around the driver side footwell where the ECU is located but could find nothing that looked wrong.

Any help or pointers would be most appreciated.

well you said you checked all the wires around the ECU but did you check any ground wires thats connected to it in any other place. i dont know much about the wiring in the lanos let alone the 1.5l since i have the 1.6l. but it seems like you have a bad ground or like you checked for exposed wires somewhere. if you can't find anything i would say take it to a mechanic to look it over. in the long run it would be just easier so you don't waste your money on more fuses.

Hi nick,

The Daewoo service agents have had a look at it and officially can't find anything wrong (suprise, suprise) with the vehicle. They are so good they didn't even notice the EGR hose from the rocker cover to the air intake was melted in two and hanging loose.

I'll have another look but it all looked fine in both footwells so I am at a bit of a loss.

well there is obviously a short circuit somewhere that is causing the fuses to blow, but where is the real question. The only way that I think the would be able to trace the problem is with a Volt Om meater to try and figure out where the current is being re-routed back to the fuse. I don't know where to begin as I have been trying to hunt down my gauge light problem for a little while now but still with no luck. :?
